James M. Painter is the Founding Attorney at James M. Painter, P.A., a multi-practice law firm and title company in Boca Raton, Florida. James focuses on commercial real estate transactions and has extensive experience representing various financial institutions involved in commercial lending. He is AV Preeminent Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been published by Who's Who in Florida and American Law on several occasions.
Prior to opening his own firm in 1983, James was a Teller at First Huntington National Bank and taught basic accounting and auditing at the Huntington College of Business in his hometown of Huntington, West Virginia. He then worked for Levy, Plisco, Perry, Shapiro, Kneen & Kingcade, P.A. as well as Marchbanks, Bell & Eisen, P.A. after relocating to Florida.
James earned his Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University School of Law where he graduated Cum Laude in the top 16% of his class. During law school, James was awarded a Rotary Graduate Fellowship where he studied law at the University of Southhamption in Southhamption, England. James was a member of the International Legal Honor Society, Phi Delta Phi and International Law Society. He was awarded an American Jurisprudence Book Award in Negotiable Instruments.
Prior to Law School, James attended Marshall University and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting. During his time at Marshall, James was a member of the Judicial Board, University President's Special Appeals Board, Student Conduct and Welfare Committee, University President's Advisory Board, Alumni Board of Directors, and the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
James is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach and is the proud father of five daughters. He spends most of his free time utilizing his carpentry skills and planning trips to the family lake house.

Shaunnah M. Van Den Berg is an Associate Attorney at James M. Painter, P.A. Shaunnah graduated Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting.
She went on to attend Stetson University College of Law earning her Juris Doctorate in 2021 graduating Cum Laude in the top 15% of her class. Shaunnah was awarded a Certificate of Concentration in Business Law awarded to those who successfully completed a rigorous series of business law courses offered at the law school. She became a member of the Florida Bar in September of that same year.
While in law school, Shaunnah externed as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Julie S. Sneed of the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida. She also interned with the U.S. Department of Justice on the Elder Justice Initiative combatting elder abuse and financial fraud targeted at seniors. Shaunnah was a Stetson Ambassador and became the Deputy Chief of Policy and Hours her final year. Shaunnah was also a member of the International Legal Honor Society, Phi Delta Phi, and was a Teaching Assistant for Professor Rebecca Morgan in Trusts and Estates.
Shaunnah is a lifelong resident of South Florida and focuses on real estate, estate planning, and probate matters. She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends on the water.
